The Carlyle Mudcat 14U baseball team improved to 4-6 on the season with a 6-5 win over the Jefferson County Warriors 14U team. The Mudcats had lost to the Warriors earlier in the season.
The Mudcats were down 5-2 going into the bottom of the third inning. The Mudcats scored one run in the bottom of the third inning, two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and one run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Drew Lueking started on the mound and went two innings, allowing three runs on four hits with three strikeouts. Lueking retired the side and had two strikeouts in the second inning.
Ethan Brinkmann pitched three innings, allowing two runs on four hits with five strikeouts. Brinkmann combined to allow no runs on one hit with four strikeouts in the fourth and fifth innings.
Evan Beal allowed no runs on no hits with three strikeouts in two innings pitched. The game ended with catcher Ethan Brinkmann throwing out a runner trying to steal second base.
Blake Hanke had two hits, one RBI and two runs scored. Ethan Brinkmann had two hits. Landyn Mitchell had a hit and scored a run. Drew Lueking reached base twice and scored one run. Timothy Schilbe reached base twice and had a hit and an RBI. Evan Beal reached base twice and had a hit. Zack Persing reached base twice and had an RBI and run scored. Benjamin Schilbe had a hit and scored a run. Melvin Towell reached base twice and had a hit and an RBI.
The Mudcats play at Highland at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
