Elizabeth Ann “Betty”, nee Sullivan, (Field) Vickers, age 92, of Belleville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at her home.  She was born June 18, 1931 in East St. Louis, a daughter of the late Thomas M. and Ruth A., nee Roberson, Sullivan.

 

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert E. Field, whom she was married to for 26 years; second husband, Randy Vickers, whom she was married to for almost 30 years; son Robert E. Field, Jr.; daughters, Debra (Joel) Lindley and Karen Nebgen; and brother, Dan (Wilma) Sullivan.

 

Betty is survived by her daughter, Sandy Field of Belleville; son-in-law, Dave Nebgen; grandchildren, Bruce Burton, Renee (Chris) Schwendeman, Leanna Burton-Kapp, Thomas Burton, and Christopher Nebgen; great-grandchildren, Christian, Izabelle, Max, Zander, Seth, Lily, Ezra, Joel, and Nora; nieces and nephews, and cats, Bella and Socks.

 

Betty’s life was dedicated to serving others. She contributed her time and compassion at Belleville Mental Health Call for Help assisting patients and also volunteered for the Suicide Hotline. Deeply rooted in faith, Betty held her family close to her heart and cherished every moment spent with them. Her passions included baking, cooking, sewing, crafting, solving word searches, and indulging in the art of coloring.

 

A Celebration of Life honoring Betty’s legacy will be held at a later date.

 

Memorials may be made to Suicide Prevention, National Alliance on Mental Health NAMI, Belleville Area Humane Society, or American Cancer Society and will be received by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
