The Carlyle Junior High School sixth-grade volleyball team beat St. Rose 25-20, 25-21. The Indians improved to 7-9 on the season.
With the opening set tied 4-4, Carlyle went on a 6-0 run to take a 10-4 lead after six straight Addison Kellermann service points. St. Rose went on a 7-2 run to get within 12-11. Carlyle scored four straight points to take a 16-11 lead after three straight Alex Johnson service points. Leading 17-13, Carlyle went on a 3-0 run to take a 20-13 lead following two straight Caybri Pollmann service points. St. Rose went on a 4-0 run to get within 21-17. Leading 22-18, Carlyle scored two straight points to take a 24-18 lead after an Olivia Wiegmann service point. St. Rose got within 24-20 before Carlyle scored the next point to win the opening set.
St. Rose led 15-13 in the second set. Carlyle went on a 3-0 run and took a 16-15 lead on two straight Alex Johnson service points. With the set tied 16-16, Carlyle went on a 4-0 run to take a 20-16 lead after three straight Sawyer Johnson service points. Carlyle had a 22-17 lead after a Caybri Pollmann service points. Carlyle led 23-18 before St. Rose scored three straight points to get within 23-21. Carlyle scored two straight points and won the set on an Addison Kellermann service point.
Carlyle ends its season by hosting Albers/Damiansville on Friday.
