The St. Rose volleyball team beat Carlyle 23-25, 25-23, 20-18. Carlyle had its five-match winning streak end. The Indians fell to 6-6-1 overall and 5-4 in the Clinton County Conference.
Carlyle had a 14-13 lead in the third set. St. Rose scored two straight points to take a 15-14 lead following a Mabry Benhoff service point. Maddy Rae Schomaker had a kill to tie the set 15-15. St. Rose took a 16-15 lead before Carlyle scored the next point to tie the set 16-16. A Brooke Harrison kill put St. Rose up 17-16. Carlyle scored the next point to tie the set 17-17. St. Rose took an 18-17 lead before Carlyle scored the next point to tie the set 18-18. St. Rose took a 19-18 lead. A Brooke Harrison service ace gave St. Rose the 20-18 victory. St. Rose had a 5-2 lead in the third set. Carlyle scored six straight points to take an 8-5 lead following five straight Abby Steinkamp service points. Carlyle opened a four-point lead at 11-7 following a Riley Terry service ace. St. Rose scored five straight points to take a 12-11 lead following four straight Brooke Harrison service points.
St. Rose had a 10-4 lead in the opening set after six straight Becca Sturgeon service points. St. Rose increased that lead to 13-5 following two straight Brooke Harrison service points. Carlyle scored three straight points to get within 13-8 following two straight Kyra Beckemeyer service points. St. Rose went on a 5-3 run to take an 18-12 lead. Carlyle scored four straight points and got within 18-16 following three straight Abby Steinkamp service points. St. Rose led 19-16 before Carlyle got within 19-18 following a Maddy Rae Schomaker service point. St. Rose opened a 21-18 lead following a Becca Sturgeon service point. Carlyle scored three straight points to tie the set 21-21 after two straight Riley Terry service points. St. Rose took a 22-21 lead. Carlyle scored three straight points to take a 24-22 lead following two straight Kyra Beckemeyer service points. St. Rose got within 24-23 before a Cameryn Pollmann kill gave Carlyle the opening set.
St. Rose had a 12-5 second-set lead after three straight Jacey Robke service points. Carlyle went on a 4-0 run to get within 12-9 following three straight Meghan Edwards service points. St. Rose had a 14-9 lead following a Mabry Benhoff ace. Carlyle went on a 4-0 run to get within 14-13 following three straight Addison Gansauer service points. St. Rose led 15-13 before Carlyle scored three straight points to take a 16-15 lead following two straight Cameryn Pollmann service points. Carlyle opened a 19-17 lead following a Riley Terry ace. St. Rose scored three straight points to take a 20-19 lead following two straight Brooke Harrison service points. St. Rose opened a 23-21 lead following a Jacey Robke service point. Carlyle scored two straight points to tie the set 23-23 following a Meghan Edwards service point. Kills from Mabry Benhoff and Lily Butler gave St. Rose the 25-23 second-set victory.
Carlyle plays at All Saints Academy on Tuesday.
