The Central softball team improved to 15-3-1 with a 9-6 win over Mascoutah. The Cougars have gone 14-1-1 in their last 16 games.
Central had an 8-1 lead after five innings. Mascoutah scored three runs in the sixth inning and two runs in the seventh inning.
Adi Foutch had three hits, including two doubles, with one RBI and three runs scored. Julianna Huber had a double and triple with three RBIs. Izzy Melton had a hit and scored a run. Claire Albers had a hit, RBI and run scored. Makenna Budde had a hit and scored two runs. Averi Marcum, Grace Johnson and Alyse Monken both had hits.
Alyse Monken pitched six innings and allowed four runs — three earned — on five hits with 13 strikeouts and one walk. Avery Budde pitched one inning and allowed two unearned runs on no hits.
Central plays at Nashville on Monday.
