The Central softball team won its fifth straight game and moved to 6-2 on the season with an 11-8 victory over Collinsville.
Central scored eight runs in the bottom of the third inning to take an 11-1 lead. Collinsville scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning and four runs in the top of the sixth inning.
Central hit three home runs in the third inning. Julianna Huber hit her second home run of the game, a two-run home run to put Central up 6-1. That was followed by a Cece Toennies home run to put the Cougars up 7-1. With two outs and two runners on base, Makenna Budde hit a three-run home run to put the Cougars up 10-1. Adi Foutch had an RBI double to put Central up 11-1.
Julianna Huber had three hits, including two home runs, with six RBIs. Adi Foutch had three hits, including two doubles, with one RBI and two runs scored. Adelyn Kuhl had three hits, including a double, with one run scored. Cece Toennies had two hits, including a home run, with one RBI and one run scored. Avery Budde had two hits, including a double. Makenna Budde had a home run, three RBIs and one run scored. Izzy Melton had a hit and scored a run. Kailyn Korte scored three runs.
Avery Budde had 16 strikeouts in seven innings pitched.
Central plays at Freeburg on Tuesday.
