The Mater Dei softball team moved to 6-1 on the season with an 11-0, seven-inning win at Carlyle. Carlyle dropped to 2-1.
Mater Dei took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Knights added five runs in the fifth inning to take a 7-0 lead. They added four runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Kailynn Kruep had a triple and home run with two RBIs and two runs scored for Mater Dei. Katy Huels had two doubles and scored three runs. Audrey Clark had two hits, including a triple, with one RBI and one run scored. Josie Pryzgoda scored two runs. Alyson Willman and Ella Palm both scored one run. Julia Korte had a triple and two RBIs. Avery Trame had a hit. Maddy Huels had a hit and scored a run.
Sophia Hoffmann and Emma Meyer both doubled for Carlyle.
Audrey Clark pitched three innings for Mater Dei, allowing no runs on one hit with six strikeouts. Katy Huels pitched four innings, allowing no runs on one hit four strikeouts.
Emma Meyer pitched four innings for Carlyle, allowing two runs on five hits with six strikeouts. Avery Eversgerd pitched three innings, allowing nine runs — three earned — on four hits with one strikeout.
Carlyle hosts Chester in its Cahokia Conference Illinois Division opener on Tuesday. Mater Dei hosts Highland on Tuesday.
