Pritzker signs letter to power grid operator
Gov. J.B. Pritzker has joined a group of nine governors around the country calling on a power grid operator to implement governance reforms.
Pritzker said PJM Interconnection is undermining Illinois’ efforts to have clean, reliable and affordable energy.
The governors sent a letter calling on PJM to fill open board seats and establish a transparent nomination process.
IFA members reappointed
Three members of the Illinois Finance Authority have been reappointed.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced that Bridgeview Mayor and former state Sen. Steven Landek, former Mount Prospect Mayor Arlene Juracek and attorney Drew Beres would continue on the IFA, pending confirmation by the Illinois Senate.
Hate crimes drop 25% in Chicago
According to the Chicago Commission on Human Relations, hate crimes dropped 25% in Chicago last year.
Mayor Brandon Johnson’s office released a statement saying the trend mirrors the broader drop in serious crime across the city.
Despite the reported progress, CCHR says hate crimes against Jewish Chicagoans increased 58% in 2024.
