Visitation for Mr. Coleman will be from 9 am – Noon, Sunday, January 19, 2025 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home. 
A procession will depart the funeral home at Noon, for a Graveside Service to be held at O’Fallon City Cemetery, O’Fallon, Ill. 

Dr. Leandrew “Grandman” Coleman passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was 71 years old. 
Born on October 5, 1953, in Chicago, Ill., he was the cherished son of Deloris Jefferson and Howard Hunter Coleman and was also lovingly raised by his stepfather, Ray Jefferson. Leandrew is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Geraldine Coleman; his children, Telsa Coleman, Pharo Coleman (Tamika), and Rasheda Reese (Alfred); and his grandchildren: Tiauna, Taniya, Cache, Tiaun, David (adopted son), Joshua, Heaven, Emani, Brittney, Kari, Diontre, Dajiona, and Rashaad, along with nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Glinda Gale Coleman Tall, Frances Marie Coleman, and Kyra Jefferson, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

As the first in his family to pursue higher education, he broke barriers and became a beacon of inspiration for future generations. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in Whitewater, Wis., and Chicago State University in Chicago, Ill. Leandrew earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, a Master of Arts in Quality Assurance Management, and a Doctoral Degree, ultimately becoming a Doctor of Philosophy in Total Quality Management. Leandrew was a man of exceptional intelligence.

Leandrew was also deeply committed to his civic responsibilities and engaged with various professional organizations. In 1976, he was initiated into the esteemed Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc, Chapter Zeta Iota, where he became the first to serve as Greek President. In 1978, he was elected an active member of the American Chemical Society and contributed to advancing the field of chemistry. By 1979, Leandrew’s leadership abilities led him to serve as the President of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, where he supported innovation and collaboration in the industry. 

Leandrew’s career, marked by excellence, continued with a long tenure at Corn Products Incorporated in Chicago, Ill., as a Quality Control Analyst. His professional journey later took him to O’Fallon, Ill., where he held numerous leadership and managerial roles, always exemplifying dedication and mastery in his field. In addition to his professional and civic contributions, Leandrew’s strong faith shaped his life’s work and actions. He was a true man of God in every aspect of his life. He was publicly ordained as a Deacon at Crusaders Church West in 1996, later earning a certificate from Living Word Christian Center for his participation in the Helps Ministry. He also engaged in missionary work, traveling to South America with Living Word Christian Center to serve and support communities across the globe. In 2003, Leandrew furthered his spiritual journey by receiving a Diploma in Ministerial Training, preparing him for his role as a minister. 

Throughout his life, Leandrew nurtured his personal passions, including renovating and maintaining his properties, becoming a master gardener, and continuing his growth of knowledge by pursuing a Real Estate License. In his retirement, Leandrew served as President of his Homeowners Association in O’Fallon, Ill., exemplifying continued leadership and commitment to his neighborhood. Leandrew’s life was a testament to the principles of diligence, devotion, discipline, and faith. He touched countless lives through his unyielding commitment to his family, his professional accomplishments, and his contributions to the community. His smile, wisdom, and dependable support will remain a source of strength and comfort to his loved ones. His legacy of knowledge, service, and resilience will continue to inspire generations to come. 

While Leandrew’s physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the cherished memories he created. As we celebrate Leandrew’s extraordinary life, we find solace in knowing that he left us with a powerful testament to a life well lived.
