Marie A. Weis, age 93, of Pocahontas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Cedarhurst of Highland, surrounded by family. She was born December 14, 1932, in Marine, a daughter of the late Adolph F. and Gertrude M. (nee Schwarz) Daiber. On May 15, 1956, she married Earl L. Weis at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland.

Marie is survived by her children, Wayne (Cindy) Weis of Pocahontas, Rozann (Bradley) Steinkoenig of Highland, Joan (Allan) Watson of Payson, AZ, Gary (Rebecca) Weis of Highland, and Connie (Cary) Brown of Pocahontas; grandchildren, Rodney Weis (significant other, Lisa Kittle), Carla (Michael) Ratermann, Ashley Weis, Heather (Jacob) Gutzler, Corey (Emily) Steinkoenig, Nicole (Christian) Nelson, Cody Brown (significant other, Samantha Busch), Colton (Samantha) Brown, Cole Brown, Dennis Seals, Tanya Barkley, and Emily Henson; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Addison, Emerson, and Karson Gutzler, Maverick Brown, Conor and Ryan Steinkoenig, McKenzie, Tucker, and Madelyn Nelson, Kale and Jada Barkley, Sawyer Seals, and Ryker and Declan Henson; brother-in-law, Herb (Shirley) Weis of Marine; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marie’s life was centered around her faith, her family, and the farm. Born in Marine and raised on a farm in St. Jacob, she learned the value of hard work at an early age. After graduating from St. Paul High School in 1950, she worked in bookkeeping at Eclipse Feeds in Highland.

Shortly after her marriage to Earl, they moved to St. Rose in 1957, Marie became a devoted mother and homemaker while also lending a hand wherever she was needed on the family farm. In 1962, the family settled in Pocahontas, where Marie and Earl raised their five children and continued their farming life together. Whether she was helping with the dairy or swine operations, tending her garden, or canning the fruits of her labor, Marie was happiest when she was busy caring for her home and family.

Marie also knew how to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. She loved dancing, playing cards and bingo, visiting with friends, and spending time with those she loved most.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Earl L. Weis, who died October 28, 1994; great-grandson, Caide Brown in infancy; brother, Orville Daiber; sister, Delores Rinderer; parents-in-law, John and Edna (nee Frisse) Weis; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Delores Daiber, Marie (John) Deak, Cyril (Dolores) Weis, Frances (Aloysius) Luitjohan, Lester (Midge) Weis, Raymond (Judith) Weis, Bertha “Bert” (Raymond) Geiger, and Wilbert “Willie” (Anne) Weis.
