Mandatory human trafficking awareness training

New Illinois Gaming Board administrative rules now require all casinos statewide to conduct mandatory human trafficking recognition training, develop, document and implement human trafficking training, and post human trafficking awareness notices.

All casino employees must complete annual human trafficking training with their initial training being completed within the first three months from the start of their employment.

The training will include information on what makes an individual susceptible to human trafficking and the red flags that indicate trafficking.

Invasive carp makes national restaurant show

Copi®, the consumer brand for invasive carp launched in 2022 by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, was featured during the National Restaurant Association Show this past weekend in Chicago.

IDNR has led the rebranding of invasive carp to combat public misconceptions about the fish and increase consumer interest in this top-feeding protein source.

Officials said increased consumption will help to prevent them from decimating native fish populations in the Great Lakes

Pope’s childhood home back on market

Pope Leo’s childhood home in Dolton was taken off the market after his election, but it appears it is once again for sale. The owner will now sell the property through a “luxury private auction.”

The home, where Pope Leo spent his childhood, had been listed for less than $250,000 before he was elected. The home was last purchased in May 2024 for $66,000.

The bidding will remain open until June 18.
