Body cam footage from police-involved shooting released

Illinois State Police have released body camera footage of a nonfatal police-involved shooting that happened in Macon.

The footage from May shows a suspect stealing a squad car that had a shotgun. After a pursuit, the suspect is seen pointing the shotgun at police, at which time officers fired.

The suspect was treated for his injuries and is currently in Macon County jail with charges pending. One officer was injured but released from the hospital the same day.

Planned Parenthood. to continue all services

Planned Parenthood of Illinois pledges to continue offering all its services despite the “defunding” approved in the so-called “big, beautiful bill” President Donald Trump got through Congress.

The bill restricts Medicaid reimbursements to nonprofit abortion providers. Planned Parenthood said almost 30,000 of its clients in Illinois use Medicaid to access services.

Busy roadside mowing

Peak roadside mowing continues until Aug. 15.

The Illinois Department of Transportation reminds motorists to slow down and proceed with caution around equipment and personnel. IDOT said the recent practice of timing mowing operations preserves and promotes pollinator habitats.
