Florence M. Frohn, age 90, of Aviston, passed away Monday, January 5, 2026, at Evercare of Breese with her family at her side. She was born November 4, 1935, in Bartelso, a daughter of the late Alphonse and Mildred (nee Hustedde) Langhauser.

 

In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Frohn whom she married June 8, 1954, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso and who died May 28, 2009; siblings, Marilyn (Bill) Harbaugh and Lavern (Bernice) Langhauser; parents-in-law, Henry and Mary (nee Wesselmann) Frohn; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Isabella (Marcellus) Mueller and Lucille (Duane) Frey.

 

Florence is survived by her children, Kathy (Lester) Hemker of Bartelso, Dennis Frohn of Keyesport, Marvin (Jeannie) Frohn of Aviston, Jim Frohn of St. Libory, and Marlene (Russell) Fuhler of Highland; grandchildren, Allan (Lorrie) Hemker, Brad Hemker, Laura (Neil) Lohman, Melissa (Ryan) Rehkemper, Devon (Alicia) Frohn, Phillip (Beth) Frohn, Emily (Ryan) Emig, Craig (friend, Olivia) Frohn, Ben (friend, Dana) Fuhler, Kaitlyn Fuhler, and Brianna Fuhler; great-grandchildren, Austin and Logan Hemker, Madison and Reagan Lohman, Corben and Brynlee Rehkemper, Jackson, Beckham, and Haven Frohn, Carter and Caleb Frohn, and Kinsley, Kennedy, and Cora Emig; sister, Betty (Paul “Massey”) Rickhoff; and nieces and nephews.

 

Florence was a devoted farmers wife, working alongside her husband until retirement and later worked at Hellige’s Market in Breese. A woman of faith, she was a devoted member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Aviston. Florence was known for her caring and nurturing nature, always placing her family first and making everyone feel welcome. She had a love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed camping and fishing, creating many cherished memories with those she loved. She could often be found playing euchre or blitz, tending to her garden, or baking and cooking for family gatherings. Florence’s greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly and took immense pride in.

 

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Aviston with Fr. Daniel Friedman presiding. Interment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and again Friday, January 9, 2026, from 8:00 – 9:30 a.m. at Moss Funeral home in Breese.

 

In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to the Breese Ambulance Service, Evercare of Breese Activity Fund, or the donor’s choice and will be received at the visitation or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St., Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
