Chris Gomez, age 75, of Germantown, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2025, at SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital.  She was born March 2, 1950, in East St. Louis, a daughter of the late John and Anne, nee Korobey, Prosser. Chris married Jose “Joe” Gomez on September 21, 1968, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Washington Park, IL and he survives.

 

In addition to her husband, Chris is survived by her children, Dan (Tammy) Gomez of Columbus, OH, Joe “Tony” (Karianne) Gomez of Jupiter, FL, Becky (Jorge) Ortiz of New Baden, and Luke (Mayra) Gomez of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Julia, Ella, and Anderson Gomez, Abigail and Caitlin Gomez, Danielle (fiancé Roosevelt Natt) Gomez, Erika (Tony) Ortiz, Andrew Ortiz, and Noah and Stella Gomez; sister, Carol (John) McCoy of Belleville; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Chole Gomez of Waukegan, Ofelia Gomez of O’Fallon, MO, Lupe Sanabria of Waukegan, Josefina (Ramon) Plancarte of Waukegan, Cuca Figueroa of Mexico City, Mago Gomez of Collinsville, Neftali Gomez of Poplar Bluff, MO, Fernando (Carmen) Gomez of Napa Valley, CA, and Antonio Gomez of Napa Valley, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Chris was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Mary Harper, Pat (Charlee) Pelo, and Thomas Volkman; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jesus Gomez, Juan Gomez, Isaias Sanabria, and Ignacio Gomez.

 

A dedicated caregiver throughout her life, Chris worked many years as a registered nurse at Carlyle Healthcare Center and later at Faith Countryside in Highland. She was a faithful member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister.

 

Chris will be remembered for her kind heart, her devotion to family, and her love of simple joys: taking walks with her Dachshund, camping, baking, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.

 

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. Thomas Lugge presiding. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Belleville.

 

Visitation will be Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 9:00 – 10:45 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown.

 

In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to St. Boniface Church and will be received at the visitation or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, PO Box 117 Germantown, IL 62245, who is serving the family.
