Thomas “Tom” W. Melosi, age 63, of Highland, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
He was born on June 15, 1963, in Highland, son of the late David and Karla (nee Kuhn) Melosi.
On June 17, 1989, he married Karen M. Ahlmeyer, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Pierron, IL, and she survives in Highland.
Tom is survived by his wife; children, Jacob Melosi, Eric (Fiancée-Amanda Winkler) Melosi and Abby (Chase) Hackstadt); siblings, Dave (Bobbi) Melosi, Vicky Tift, Rich Melosi, Kris (Dale) Eyman, Janey (Jeff) Miller and Bob (Jody) Melosi; brother-in-law, Michael (Leslie) Ahlmeyer; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Tom and Donna (nee Daiber) Ahlmeyer.
Tom was a dedicated professional, a faithful community servant, and a man who found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. A graduate of Greenville High School, Tom went on to continue his education at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE). His sharp mind and leadership skills led to a successful career in St. Louis, where he served as the Systems Director for Central States Water Resources.
Tom’s faith and commitment to service were central to his life. He was a devout member of St. Paul Catholic Church and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1580, where he achieved the honor of the 4th Degree. He also brought his energy and camaraderie to the field, playing softball for the Knights of Columbus team. Outside of his work and community service, Tom embraced life with enthusiasm. He loved the outdoors, often spending his free time hiking, golfing, and traveling to new places. At home, Tom was a passionate cook and a true master at grilling and smoking meats, always delighting family and friends with his culinary creations.
Despite all of his achievements and many different hobbies, Tom’s greatest passion in life was being a loving brother, husband and father. He was truly the epitome of what it meant to be a family man.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m., at Moss Funeral Home in Highland.
A Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, with Fr. Pat G. Jakel presiding. Burial will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, plants, or other gifts, memorials may be made to St. Paul Education Foundation or wishes of the family (payable to Karen Melosi) and will be received at the visitation or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 1501 9th St., Highland, IL 62249, who is serving the family.
