(The Center Square) – Gov. J.B. Pritzker has contributed $65 million to his gubernatorial campaign fund.

Since his first run for governor in 2018, Pritzker has spent more than $400 million on campaigns for himself and other Democratic Party candidates.

COOK PROPERTY TAX BILLS TO BE MAILED SEPT. 1

Cook County officials say the next installment of property tax bills are expected to be mailed to property owners on Sept. 1, with a due date of Oct. 1.

The county has initiated a $300 million bridge loan program for local taxing jurisdictions to address the latest delay of about two months.

Local officials say the delays have cost municipalities and other taxing bodies hundreds of millions of dollars.

SAUK VILLAGE MAN SENTENCED FOR FIREARM POSSESSION IN INDIANA

A Sauk Village man has been sentenced to three years plus one month in prison for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Prosecutors said Shaquille Strauther, 33, illegally possessed a loaded semiautomatic pistol during a traffic stop in Schererville, Indiana on Feb. 26. Strauther was on parole at the time, following a prior conviction for home invasion with a firearm.

CHICAGO LAUNCHES MOBILITY DEVICE RETRIEVAL PROGRAM

Chicago officials have announced the launch of a program to coordinate the recovery and transport of wheelchairs, scooters and other mobility devices following medical emergencies that occur in public locations.

A statement from Mayor Brandon Johnson’s office said city agencies and a contracted service provider would work together to transport, store and return the devices to their owners as quickly and efficiently as possible.

The program is funded through the Chicago Business Affairs and Consumer Protection’s accessibility fund.

STATE FAIR FEATURES HARNESS RACING, AUTO RACING

Two more days of harness racing are scheduled at the Illinois State Fair. Post time is set for 11 a.m. both Wednesday and Thursday.

Two days of dirt-track auto racing are on tap this weekend.

The USAC Bettenhausen 100 is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday. On Sunday, the green flag is scheduled to drop for Sportsman Nationals at 11:45 a.m. and the ARCA Allen Crowe Memorial 100 follows at 1:09 p.m.
