(The Center Square) – An Illinois lawmaker has proposed bills that would repeal the state’s social media platform fee and targeted advertising services act.
State Rep. Travis Weaver, R-Peoria, filed House Bills 5806 and 5807 last week. The tax and fee measures were part of the state revenue package signed by Gov. J.B. Pritzker in June.
STATE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH OFFICE RELEASES NEW REPORT
The Illinois Chief Behavioral Health Office has released a report aimed at strengthening the state’s improving behavioral health system.
A statement from the Department of Human Services said the report is organized around three core priorities: increasing access to high-quality behavioral health care, strengthening the behavioral health workforce, and integrating behavioral health data, reporting, and monitoring systems.

Gov. J.B. Pritzker proclaimed August 11, 2026 as 811 Day in Illinois as a way to raise awareness about the importance of safe digging.
State officials say making a free call to 811 can protect excavators, homeowners and the integrity of Illinois’ underground utility infrastructure.
Underground utility lines are unintentionally struck every few minutes in the U.S. by someone who failed to have utility lines marked, causing service interruptions, environmental damage or personal injury.
