Obama Center to open in June after delays

The Obama Presidential Center is scheduled to open with a series of events June 18 to 21 in Chicago. The project was delayed several times since its 2021 groundbreaking, and estimated construction costs rose from $350 million to at least $830 million. A dedication ceremony is planned on June 18, followed by the public opening on June 19 and community celebrations June 20 and 21.

3 Republicans to debate Monday in Northbrook

Three Republican candidates for governor are scheduled to debate Monday evening in Northbrook. Ted Dabrowski, Rick Heidner and James Mendrick are set to participate in the event hosted by Students for Illinois. 2022 GOP nominee Darren Bailey is skipping the debate to attend a campaign event in Pekin. Primary election day is March 17.

IDNR seeks camping hosts

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) is seeking campground hosts for the 2026 camping season at state parks, recreation areas and historic sites. Hosts check on arrivals and departures, write camping permits, acquaint campers with park facilities and regulations, help visitors plan outings and more. Anyone interested can complete and submit a campground host program packet at the desired site.
