Donna Noel Stewart, 78, of Highland, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, February 23, 2026.
She was born on July 7, 1947, in Eldorado, Illinois, the twin daughter of the late Leon and Norma (nee Smith) Noel. Donna shared a special lifelong bond with her twin sister, Deanna.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Russell Lentz.
She is survived by her loving son, John Richard (Lynda) Stewart of Avon, Indiana; her cherished grandson, John Ethan Stewart; her twin sister, Deanna Lentz of Highland; and her brother, Richard (Carla) Noel of Omaha, Illinois.
Donna earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Bethel College in McKenzie, Tennessee. She began her professional life as a teacher, dedicating herself to educating young minds. Later, she moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where she continued her career with the Internal Revenue Service. Donna worked as an internal auditor until her retirement in 2002.
A woman of many talents and interests, Donna was an avid reader and a gifted crafter. She found joy in woodworking, carving, painting, and preparing comforting meals for those she loved. She had a special affection for cats, especially her beloved companion, Gracie, who brought her much happiness.
Donna will be remembered for her creativity, independence, and devotion to her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, plants, or other gifts, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and will be received at the visitation or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St., Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
