Ralph L. “LeRoy” Hostmeyer, Jr., age 70, of Aviston, passed away Friday, August 29, 2025. He was born March 18, 1955, in Breese, a son of the late Betty J. (nee Randant) and Ralph L. Hostmeyer Sr.

LeRoy married Janice Hostmeyer (nee Krebs) on July 2, 1977, at St. Mary Catholic Church Carlyle and she survives in Aviston. In addition to his wife, LeRoy is survived by his children, Bridgette (Eric) Poettker of Aviston and Clint (Elizabeth) Hostmeyer of Bartelso; grandchildren, Kayden and Ainslee Poettker and Kyson and Trace Hostmeyer; sisters, Cindy Hostmeyer and Susan Hostmeyer; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dianne (Pat) Borgelet and Duane (Lisa) Krebs; and nieces and nephews.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eugene and Audrey (nee Hustedde) Krebs.

LeRoy was a 1973 graduate of Breese High School. Over the years he worked for Wicks Organ Company in Highland, was a skilled woodworker, and also drove for South Central Transit. His hobbies reflected his love of craftsmanship and tradition—he enjoyed woodworking, gun collecting, classic cars (with a special passion for Mopars), and traveling. More than anything, LeRoy was devoted to his family. He especially treasured time with his grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to cheer them on at their sporting events.

A private burial will take place at St. John’s Cemetery in Breese.

Memorials in honor of LeRoy may be made to Community Link or the Aviston Fire Department and will be received by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N 5th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
