Here’s proof that microchips work!! Rufio was picked up north of Breese and was dumped at a farm. We checked him for a microchip and it hit. After calling the company, we found out that he was registered to someone in Of’allon, IL. In talking to her, she stated that he was rehomed 8 1/2 years ago to a family near New Athens, IL. That’s over an average hour from our facility. In speaking with her, she stated that she got a call from a veterinarian in Godfrey right before Christmas and was able to give me the number of the facility. In speaking with them, they gave me the name and number of the person who brought him in. I was able to speak with him and he told me where he found him and who he gave him to. After I knew where he came from and how he got to where he was picked up, I started calling veterinarians near where he was picked up and I got a hit. The vet in Sparta was able to give us the owners info and we gave them a call. They had been looking for him since before Christmas and figured he was gone. They came and got him today and are reregistering the microchip to them this time. So, he’s safely back with his family due to his microchip.
