OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. —
The 375th Operations Group Detachment 1 held a change of command ceremony at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, Okla., Oct. 3 welcoming Lt. Col. Eric Penney as its new commander.
The ceremony not only emphasized the detachment’s importance, but also the partnership between the 375th Air Mobility Wing and the Federal Aviation Administration, reinforcing their joint commitment to global operational readiness and safe aviation operations worldwide.
Detachment 1 operates the FAA’s fleet of six Challenger 600-series aircraft. Its Combat Flight Inspection mission supports the core competency of global reach and power through contingency flight inspection of airfield navigation and instrument landing systems, radars, and instrument procedures, and travel to remote and high-risk locations, including combat zones to Antarctica.
As the only active duty unit of its kind in the Air Force, Det. 1 is comprised of 27 officers and enlisted professionals who provide combat readiness to support national mobility plans during contingencies, war, crises, and DoD exercises.
