This October, Carlyle Lake will come alive with vibrant fall colors and a variety of family-friendly events hosted by various local organizations in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Mark your calendars for these fantastic seasonal happenings:
National Bass League:
October 6 – Dam West Boat Ramp
This high school and youth bass tournament will attract anglers from across the region, all vying for the biggest largemouth bass in the lake. Weigh-in, which is open to the public, begins at 3:30 p.m.
Sarcoma Stomp: Run for Research 5K:
October 12 – Main Dam, Dam West Recreation Area
Enjoy a scenic route while supporting a great cause at the Sarcoma Stomp 5K, hosted by the Bo Arvin Memorial. This event raises awareness and funds for sarcoma research. Registration can be found at https://runsignup.com/Race/IL/Carlyle/SarcomaStompRunforResearch
Carlyle Lake Haunted Trail:
October 18 & 19 – Dam West Boat Ramp
Prepare for a spine-chilling adventure at the Haunted Trail, open from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with a $10 admission fee. Perfect for thrill-seekers and Halloween enthusiasts, this haunted trail promises a night of frightful fun in support of the 2025 Fireworks Spectacular.
Halloween Hustle 5K:
October 26 – Main Dam, Dam West Recreation Area

Camper’s & Family Trick-or-Treat:
October 26 – Dam West Campground
This festive event, held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., invites campers to enjoy trick-or-treating, participate in a campsite decorating contest, and more! This occasion is open to friends and family of registered campers with proper identification.
