Relay for Life of Marion County presented by Mid-Am Building took place Saturday at the Marion County Fairgrounds in Salem.
The 2023 Relay for Life of Marion County theme was “Every Step Brings Hope.” This year the total raised is $44,155. Donations are still coming in and will be applied to this year’s total. After December 1, any donations collected will go toward the 2024 year.
This year’s cancer survivor spokesperson was Beth Orell. The National Anthem was sung by Mystee Johnston and the survivor lap was led by the Odin Fire Department. Following that lap was the caregiver lap, and moving on into the night, the Emergency Services lap was the opening of the Luminaria ceremony.
“We are so thankful for the support of the community coming out at Relay for Life of Marion County presented by Mid-Am Building Supply. We could not do this without everyone coming together to raise awareness and funds to ensure that we continue to make strides in the fight against cancer. Together, we are making a difference,” said Stephanie Smith, American Cancer Society senior development manager.
