Ida G. “Dee” Ratermann, nee Deters, age 85, of Breese, and formerly of Highland, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

 

She was born October 12, 1937 in St. Louis, MO, a daughter of the late Henry and Francine, nee Payne, Deters.  She married Hubert “Bert” Ratermann on June 2, 1955 in St. Louis, MO and he preceded her in death on April 28, 2005.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Avery Deien; half-brothers, William “Bill” Hoffman and Fritz Hoffman; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ferdinand and Veronica, nee Feltrop, Ratermann; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Margie (Ray) Rolfingsmeier, Ann (Joe) Lampe, Hilda (Lawrence) Ripperda, Rita Ratermann in infancy, Virgil (Frances) Ratermann, Herman Ratermann, and William (Minnie) Ratermann.

 

Dee is survived by her children, Michael (Barbara) Ratermann of Clara Mount, NC, Christopher (Christine) Ratermann of Pierron, Kevin (Tammy) Ratermann of Highland, Denise (Paul) Cates of Franklin, TN, and Jackie (Greg) Deien of Breese; thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; brother, Michael (Jan) Deters of St. Peters, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Dee formerly worked in housekeeping at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland and Faith Countryside in Highland. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland and she enjoyed gardening and taking care of her flowers, cooking, bowling, play cards, solitaire, and pinochle.  Dee loved and cherished spending time with her entire family.

 

Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese with Deacon Linus Klostermann officiating.  Interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Highland.

 

Visitation will be Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

 

In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
