Kathleen A. “Kathy” Pingsterhaus, age 68, of Carlyle, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Aviston Countryside Manor surrounded by her loving family.
She was born February 3, 1955 in Highland, a daughter of Eleanor, nee Thurnau, Pirok, and the late Henry Pirok. She married Lavern Pingsterhaus on March 8, 1980 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland and he survived in Carlyle.
In addition to her mother and husband, Kathy is survived by her children, Shandra Meier of Carlyle and Sheilla (Michael) Chwascinski of Hoffman; grandchildren, Brystohl and Lane Chwascinski; siblings Sharon (Steve) Frey of Pierron, Marilyn (Bob) Drda of Highland, and Barbara (John) Ceney of Prince George, VA; mother-in-law, Imelda, nee Boeser, Pingsterhaus of Beckemeyer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Anthony (Kathy) Pingsterhaus of Beckemeyer, Mary (Gervase) Hemker of Germantown, Irene (Lavern) Jansen of Damiansville, Evy (Auggie) Wildhaber of Bartelso, and Julie (Paul) Fuehne of Bartelso; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by her father; father-in-law, Ray Pingsterhaus, and niece, Lynn Netemeyer.
Kathy dedicated herself to her work and her community, retiring from Bergman/Taylor Seed House in St. Jacob as a secretary. She went on to share her talents at Mioux Florist and the Clinton County Extension Office. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Carlyle, a former 4-H Leader, and she taught 2nd grade PSR. Kathy also recently became a PSR aide for 1st grade at St. Mary’s. She was known for her love of sewing, her enthusiasm for playing bingo and cards, and her unwavering devotion to her family. Kathy’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and showering her grandchildren with love and care.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 13, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck presiding. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Carlyle.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and again Friday, October 13, 2023 from 8:30 – 10:15 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.
In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to Clinton County Relay for Life or Clinton County Humane Society and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
