We are getting an increasing number calls about bats moving in to people’s homes. Please do not attempt to remove the bat yourself. CALL ANIMAL CONTROL!! We will come and safely remove it.

There are 13 species of bats found in the state of Illinois. The most common found in houses is the Little Brown Bat. 3-5% of bats tested carry rabies. Bat bites are very small and often undetectable. They don’t typically attack humans but will bite as a defense mechanism to people trying to handle them.

If you find a bat in your home, stay calm and try to isolate it to one room. Don’t attempt to swing at it or catch it. If the bat was found in a room where people were sleeping, please follow up with your primary care physician. Contact animal control. If it is after normal hours, you can call the County dispatch on the non-emergency line and they will contact us to come remove it. Thank you for your cooperation!!
