That is more than a thousand more than in the two previous years. The highest total of deer harvested was in Adams County, followed by Jefferson and Jackson counties. Illinois’ seven-day firearm deer season will conclude Dec. 5-8.

Man rescued from garbage truck

A man is recuperating after being trapped inside the compactor of a garbage truck in Madison County. According to the Hartford Fire Department, a garbage truck driver spotted the man waving his arms in the truck’s camera. Officials say the man was unknowingly picked up by the garbage truck while in South Roxana, Illinois, and was inside the truck when the compactor had been used. Officials said an initial assessment did not indicate any broken bones or severe injuries.
