Dolton, Thorton Township administrator faces bankruptcy fraud charge
A senior administrator for the village of Dolton, who also works for Thornton Township, has been charged with federal bankruptcy fraud. Federal prosecutors announced 45-year-old Keith Douglas Freeman of Orland Park was indicted this week with one count of bankruptcy fraud. If found guilty, the penalty could be a maximum of five years in federal prison.
Springfield restaurant owner pleads guilty in loan case
A Springfield restaurant owner has pleaded guilty to concealing a felony in connection with a wire fraud and false statement on a loan application. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of Illinois said 39-year-old Omar Hernandez-Lopez pleaded guilty and will be sentenced in August. He could get up to three years in prison.
Young hunters set turkey harvest record
Youth hunters harvested more turkeys in the most recent season than the previous harvest record set in 2020. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources announced a preliminary total of 2,006 birds harvested by youth turkey hunters from the two hunting periods last month and earlier this month. The previous record was 1,733 turkeys in 2020. The top county for harvest was Randolph County with 71.
