On Saturday, January 6, 2024, Eagle Scout Gabriel Peeck, a Centralia High School senior and Asst. Scoutmaster of Troop 260, was honored into the Order of the Arrow – Nisha Kittan Lodge #114 and awarded the Vigil Honor. Peeck also serves as Business Manager for the St. Louis GSLAC Beaumont Scout Reservation and is a Camp May Staff and EZ Squad Scout First Aid Team member.

The Vigil Honor is a high mark of distinction and recognition reserved for those Arrowmen who have given exceptional service, helping others beyond the call of duty, involving personal effort and unselfish interest to one or more of the following: their Lodge, the Order of the Arrow, Scouting, or their Scout camp. Alertness to the needs of others is the mark of the Vigil Honor. This calls for an unusual awareness of the possibilities within each situation.

The Vigil Honor is the highest honor that the Order of the Arrow (an Honor Society of the Boy Scouts of America) can present its members for service to the Lodge and Council. Each year, a Lodge may nominate no more than 2% of its members for Vigil Honor.

Gabriel was also Awarded a 2024 Nisha Kittan Lodge Service Award & Gold OA Flap for his leadership contributions and continued cheerful service to the council and community.

(L to R): Lloyd Reinkensmeier, Black Gold District Eagle Scout Board chairman; Jordan Rud, Black Gold District Executive; Gabriel Peeck, award recipient; Patty Peeck, COR Troop 260 and proud mother; Stephen Peeck, Scoutmaster Troop 260 and proud father.
