Centralia Business and Professional Women’s Club gathered at the Centralia Elks Lodge on December 13 to enjoy some fine food, relaxation and lots of fun as they celebrated the holiday season with their annual Christmas party.

Following a delicious meal, members began the evening with brags and the monthly 50/50 drawing that was won by Tammy Resch. Membership Chair Karen Walsh then presented long time members Bev Virobik and Lorraine Bassett with an honorary membership as stated in the revised bylaws.

And then the festivities began. Partygoers received a “treat bag” containing homemade chocolate chip cookies, a chocolate ornament and a candy cane. Members had been instructed to bring a White Elephant gift for a fun gift exchange. Chairman of the party, Sally Tiemann, read the White Elephant poem telling each member how to pick their gift. However, almost immediately, they were instructed to exchange with someone that might be wearing red, have the darkest or lightest hair, or maybe a gift with green. After all gifts were opened, each member showed what they received and told who graciously “donated” the gift. Members were delighted with a surprise visit from a special guest, dear old Santa Claus!

If you are looking for a fun event, make a reservation to play trivia on January 27 hosted by Centralia BPW. The event takes place at the Centralia American Legion with a theme of “All About TV.” Contact Centralia BPW26@gmail.com or call Chairman Patty Brough at 618-322-7886.

More fun can be found at “Wednesday Night Trivia” at Poplar Place. Centralia BPW is hosting the monthly event for January and will also be the recipient of proceeds of the event benefiting the scholarship fund. Trivia play is from 7:30 to 9:30 with an entry fee of $10.

The next meeting will be held on January 10 at Marilyn’s Restaurant, 201 N. Broadway, Central City at 6:00 p.m. Members and guests will have the option to order from the menu if they choose to dine at 5:30.

Please contact Karen Walsh (618-967-3919) or any other member for more information concerning BPW membership.
