BENTON, IL – Several recreation areas managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Rend Lake will be closing for the season. Upcoming seasonal closures include:

September 11

  • South Sandusky Campground – Sycamore loop
  • South Sandusky Day Use – Beach, Shelter 1, Shelter 2
  • South Marcum Campground – Beaver Lodge loop
  • North Marcum Day Use – Beach, Shelter 7, Shelter 8

October 30

  • North Sandusky Campground – All loops
  • Shagbark Group Area
  • South Sandusky Campground – Dogwood, Redbud, Pine Tree, Pin Oak loops & Tent Area
  • South Sandusky Boat Ramp
  • Gun Creek Day Use – Shelter 10
  • South Marcum Campground – Owl’s Roost, Covey Point (101 – 129), Whispering Pines loops & Tent Area (T4-14)
  • South Marcum Day Use – Shelter 9
  • Dale Miller Group Camp
  • Spillway Group Area Restroom
  • River Road Restroom
  • Rend Lake Visitor Center Closed on Weekends

November 6

  • South Marcum Campground – Buck Ridge, Covey Point (65-100), & Tent Area (T1-T3)
  • Green Heron Pond Trail

November 14

  • North Marcum Archery Range

November 20

  • Gun Creek Campground – All loops
  • Gun Creek Boat Ramp

For further information on routine seasonal closures, please contact the Rend Lake Project Office & Visitor Center at 618-724-2493.

Road restroom will also close on October 30. The Rend Lake Project Office & Visitor Center will be closed on weekends beginning October 30, and remain open from 8:00am to 4:00pm Monday – Friday.

South Sandusky and North Marcum beaches are set to re-open May 17, 2024.
