More than 130 dogs surrendered from commercial breeding facilities throughout the Midwest will receive second chances as they make their way via ground flight transport to find loving homes at animal welfare organizations throughout the country. The Belleville Area Humane Society welcomed fourteen dogs on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. This lifesaving transport was facilitated and funded by BISSELL Pet Foundation.
At the request of National Mill Dog Rescue, BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Animal Incident Management initiative was called into action to facilitate and fund placement for more than 130 dogs and puppies from commercial breeding facilities throughout the Midwest that have overproduced. The foundation is also covering the costs associated with preparing these rescued dogs for travel with vaccinations and health certificates. The dogs—Boston Terriers, Poodle mixes, Pomeranians, Dachshunds, Pekinese, and more—this surrender will help raise awareness that these types of pets can be found in local animal shelters.
The dogs on this lifesaving BISSELL Pet Foundation mission are a result of the sharp increase in the number of dogs being surrendered from commercial breeders this year. The placement of these dogs into shelters draws the community in to meet all adoptable pets waiting for homes.
