A groundbreaking ceremony was held last Friday at the Centralia Community Youth Center for its $250,000 addition. The addition will consist of a 48 by 80-foot new building which will have eight new rooms plus room for storage for the facility. Executive Director Herb Williams said a state grant for $250,000 will pay for the construction. Additional fundraisers will be held to help pay for furnishings for the new rooms. Holmes Construction of Centralia is the general contractor for the project. City officials, youth center officials and members of the public attended the event. The center is located at 1224 East Rexford in Centralia.
