Salem Community High School Daughters of the American Revolution and Sons of the American Revolution Award Winners for 2023-24 were recently chosen.
Jillian Green, daughter of Jason and Trina Green of Kell, has been selected by her teachers and peers to be the Salem Community High School 2023-24 DAR award winner. This award is given to a student who exemplifies outstanding qualities of leadership, dependability, service, and patriotism.
T.J. Gillett, son of Travis and Christy Gillett of Salem, has been selected by his teachers and peers to be the Salem Community High School 2023-24 SAR award winner. This award is given to a student who exemplifies outstanding qualities of leadership, dependability, service, and patriotism.
The National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is an organization of women who can prove direct lineal descent from a patriot who served or aided in the American Revolution. The organization was founded in 1890 for the purpose of promoting historic preservation, education and patriotism.
The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) is an organization of men who can prove direct lineal descent from patriots who wintered at Valley Forge, signed the Declaration of Independence, fought in the battles of the American Revolution, served in the Continental Congress, or otherwise supported the cause of American Independence. Organized in 1889, the SAR is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history and teaching American history to future generations.
