Genealogy group to hold meeting
The Marion County Genealogical Society will meet at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, August 28 at the Bryan-Bennett Library. The library is located at 315 So. Maple in Salem, Illinois and the meeting will be in the Society’s Room.
Angela Hill, of Wilson & Wilson Monuments in Odin will explain how to provide proper care and maintenance of tombstones. The public is invited. Looking ahead, on September 25, Diane Brimberry and Carolyn Green will present information on the history of Kinmundy and discuss the Madison Street Historic Preservation project.
Genealogical group offers starter session
Marion County Genealogical Society is offering a free and easy way to get started on family history. The session will be held Saturday, September 9, in the Society’s room, at the Bryan-Bennett Library, 415 S. Maple, Salem. It will start at 9:00 a.m. and finish at noon. Additional sessions can be held, based on interest. No materials are needed, but please write down names, dates, place of birth, marriage, death and burial, if you know such information, on parents, grandparents and great-grandparents.
