When two brilliant minds come together with the goal of caring for others you can be assured of great things. When Candy Rogers had the idea of leasing and running a business to help people feel better and take better care of themselves, the idea of a therapeutic aerobic aquatic center was developed, and the perfect facility and location just happened to be available at Dr. Alan Froehling’s offices.
That’s a familiar name to most of Southern Illinois and beyond. Dr. Froehling, a retired orthopedic surgeon for over four decades, got the picture and knew immediately Mrs. Rogers knew what she was talking about. With 20 years of experience in therapy and 13 years with a health care agency, there was no doubt she understood the value of the proper exercise, so Candy was off and running.
PRN Professionals LLC is now open for business eleven hours a day, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with private lessons from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and on Saturday for private parties and birthday parties in a separate room. The Center is very flexible. Candy explained, “People are busy and need flexibility in their schedules.”
She went on to tell me, “There are a lot of people that do therapy for pain management. This type of exercise is very helpful. We want to help people feel better with the proper exercise, with certified instructors…” which is equally important.
There’s so much to offer, including aqua and yoga fitness, in person instructor led classes, and DVD / TV classes in the pool area that are led by instructors on-screen, with surround sound.
PRN Professionals has hours set aside for private rental during the day for those who want to exercise privately, have special needs, or need assistance. They offer one-on-one private lessons, and their current client ages range from 1 to 72. PRN offers an hour each weekday for orthopedic clients who can come do joint protocol exercises and have peace of mind that no one will be swimming or walking and risk bumping into them if they are pre or post joint recovery/surgery. They offer parties on weekends (two or five hours), and a lifeguard is on duty the entire time the facility is open on weekdays and weekends. All classes and lessons are conducted by certified instructors, and members are given special open swim times and free classes for $50/month with a three month minimum sign up. Non members are welcome to join ortho hour, instructor led classes or DVD classes for $10 per session.
