The 2023 Summer Open Chess Tournament will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the Salem Community Activities Center located at 416 East Oglesby St. in Salem, Illinois. The tournament will utilize the Swiss System, consisting of three rounds, USCF rated. Time controls will be 30/70, then 40/60 with no sudden death. The tournament is sponsored by the Southern Illinois Chess League.
Registration will be from 8:00 to 9:15 a.m. with rounds of play at 9:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. The entry fee is $15.00. The prize fund will be $360.00, based on 30 players.
