Farmers Market coupons available for seniors

BCMW Project Bread, in conjunction with Midland Area Agency on Aging and the Illinois Department on Aging, will be taking applications for coupons redeemable at the Farmer’s Markets in Centralia, Mt. Vernon, and Salem. Applications will be taken at the main office at 909 E. Rexford on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 9:00 to 12:00; the Golden Age Senior Center at 308 N. Locust St. on Tuesdays from 9:00 to 11:30; and at Salem Seniors Plus/Nutrition at 1300 S. Broadway, Suite 26 on Thursdays from 9:00 to 11:30.

Eligibility requirements are as follows: Must be age 60 or older and be at 185% of the federal poverty level or less. A short application process is required to obtain the coupons. When the application is complete, you will receive the coupons if you meet the eligibility requirements. If you are unable to come to the office, you can designate a proxy to pick them up for you. The proxy must bring a photo ID with your signed application.

BCMW will distribute the coupons until they are gone. Coupons can be redeemed at any registered Farmer’s Market from July 10, 2023 through October 31, 2023.

You must meet the following income guidelines: Family of 1, 30 day income of $2,248; family of 2, 30 day income of $3,040; family of 3, 30 day income of $3,833; family of 4, 30 day income of $4,625 family of 5, 30 day income of $5,417; family of 6, 30 day income of $6,210; family of 7, 30 day income of $7,002; family of 8, 30 day income of $7,795.
