Centralia Business and Professional Club members and guests gathered at the Centralia Museum on May 8 where they enjoyed a catered meal.
The evening continued with the introduction of member Becca Deomes who recently received one of the Illinois Jaycees’ honors, the Outstanding Young People of Illinois award. Becca has been a member of the Centralia BPW since 2016. Since joining, Becca has been an active member, chair of several committees, served as recording secretary and was installed as President Elect. Congratulations, Becca.
Membership Chair Melodie Ainslie had the honor of recognizing the following members for their years of dedicated service to the organization. 10 years, Tischa Daugherty; 20 years, Patty Brough; 30 years, Nancy James, Leona Jones and Chris Paskavich; 45 years, Joanetta Wood; 50 years, Darlene Pettygrove.
Prior to the installation of new officers, as a token of appreciation, President Tischa Daugherty was given a charm bracelet from the club, thanking her for a job well done. Members of the 2022-2023 board and committee chairs were thanked by President Daugherty for their service to the club.
Installation of the 2023-2024 officers was conducted by Installing Officer Lorraine Bassett. The slate of officers is: President, Stephanie House; President Elect, Becca Deomes; Recording Secretary, Tara Waters; Corresponding Secretary, Stephanie Aarons-Dennison; Treasurer, Dawn Cleary; Parliamentarian, Tammy Resch.
Newly elected President House then presented each member with a small container of various seasonings to introduce her theme for the year, “A Recipe Seasoned for Success.” Stephanie said she grew up in the kitchen and loves to cook and bake. She emphasized the goal for her term is to grow the membership and to focus on civic opportunities for the club to participate in.
