Thomas R. “Tom” Halusan, age 83, of Trenton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, IL. Born on February 8, 1941, in Milwaukee, WI, Tom was the beloved son of the late Rudolph and Evelyn (nee Nickel) Halusan.

 

Tom married Joan Koerber on September 7, 1963, at St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt, IL, and together they built a life filled with love and dedication. He is survived by his devoted wife, Joan, of Trenton, and their cherished children, Dean (Jennifer) Halusan of Prairietown and Lori (Gerry) Ottensmeier of Trenton. He was a proud grandfather to Olivia and Owen Halusan and Cassidy Ottensmeier, who brought him great joy. Tom is also survived by his brother, Charles “Mick” Halusan of Swansea; his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Myron (Kayla) Koerber of New Baden and Nancy Koerber of Red Bud; along with many nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Thomas Lee Halusan and Daniel Thomas Halusan; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Levern and Irene (nee Neff) Koerber; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Ann Halusan and Dale Koerber.

 

Tom proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army from December 17, 1965, to December 16, 1967. After his military service, he pursued a career as a Licensed Architect and worked for the Department of Defense with the United States Air Force. Additionally, Tom was a Registered Interior Designer, licensed with the State of Illinois. He was a respected member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) and the American Institute of Architects of Southern Illinois. His passion for design and dedication to his craft left a lasting mark on those who knew him.

 

A member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Trenton, Tom was committed to his faith and community. He will be remembered for his kindness, integrity, and the love he had for his family.

 

Memorial Service will be Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton with Deacon Tom Ritzheimer officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Trenton with military honors accorded.

 

Visitation will be Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.

 

In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 105 S. Main St., Trenton, IL 62293, who is serving the family.
