Students at Christ Our Rock Lutheran High School have started their own weekly podcast.
“Basically, our thoughts are that we have a purpose and a mission,” said School Relations Coordinator Dan Kueper. “Our mission is for the kids to have something of their own that they can do. This gives the kids some ownership and gets them involved.”
The weekly podcasts will be done on Friday and won’t be centered just around the school itself. Guests will be brought in to discuss various topics from a three-county area, Marion, Clinton and Washington.
“The purpose for doing this is to just kind of engage with the community,” Kueper said. “It gives the local people a chance to use this as a platform to let people know what’s going on with their business and what’s going on in their communities.”
Students on the podcast team include senior Rhett Runge; juniors Alayna French, Ryleigh Swartzlander, Elizabeth Britt and Audrey Lueking; sophomores Gracie Schnitker and Leyla Linder; and freshmen Anderson Engele and Jill Meyer.
Kueper took a group of students to a podcast camp in early August at Edwardsville High School to learn about the topic.
“We saw what kind of equipment they used and they walked us through the process,” he said. “We also listened to a couple of guest speakers.”
The school is also looking for sponsors for the podcasts. Anyone interested in becoming a sponsor can contact Kueper at dkueper@CORLHS.org.
The podcasts can be found on Spotify.
