Dr. Ashley Becker of Trenton has been appointed as the new Dean of
Business, Health Sciences and Homeland Security at Southwestern Illinois College
in Belleville. She was most recently the vice president of instructional services at
Kaskaskia College in Clinton County.
In addition to the position she held at KC, Becker has also worked as the
Senior Director of Academic Affairs for the Illinois Community College Board and
College Director at the ITT Technical Institute in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Her husband is Ian Becker and they have three children, Kanyon, Grayson
and Addison. Becker’s favorite pastimes include watching her children participate
in activities like tumbling, soccer, track, wrestling, basketball, dance and volleyball
along with spending time with her family.
Becker said she is excited about working with SWIC students, faculty and
staff. She enjoys and appreciates the mix of responsibilities and challenges that
accompany her new role at SWIC.
“I love being a servant leader, someone who rallies their faculty and staff
together to achieve the college’s mission,” Becker said. “It’s about impact,
influence, inspiration and selfishness. I am truly blessed to be a part of this
amazing institution.”
Becker holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Great Falls in
Montana and both a masters of business administration and doctorate degree in
higher education from the University of Phoenix. She is a member of the Illinois
Articulation Initiative and the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning Military
Advisory Board.
